Our directory has many talented local artists, check back often as new artists are added!
I have been a member of art organizations in Alaska, Colorado, West Virginia, and currently in the state of Washington. I have taken classes and attended plein air workshops, served on boards, had my art exhibited in galleries and shows in each of these states.
Associating with other artists and attending art functions in our community has helped inspire me to try and be more creative as an artist in the Pacific North West. Art continues to present endless surprises, and wonderful adventures. It has always been a pleasure and honor to join groups of artists who not only create, but teach their art form.

Like centuries of artists before me, my art can be characterized by its unapologetic postmodern use of earlier styles and conventions, and an eclectic mixing of different styles and media.
According to London's Tate Museum, “As an art movement postmodernism to some extent defies definition – as there is no one postmodern style or theory on which it is hinged. It embraces many different approaches to art making, and may be said to... [embrace] conceptual art, neo-expressionism, feminist art…” I would add that my work embraces classical and realism, and new media movements.

My artistic personality started since I was a child, performing, drawing and singing. Creating is in my daily life. I’m either painting, singing, playing guitar, piano by ear, teaching Astrology and Reiki. I have passion for all animals and am fascinated by the human brain/mind studies which are depicted in some of my artwork.
My birth country is Venezuela and I have a Bachelor degree in Computer management. In 2001, I moved to Tampa Fl where I started painting using oil on canvas. I love exploring different art styles, textures and more. In 2004, I moved to Chicago and married my sweet husband. I was able to display my artwork as a member of the Oswego Art Association.
Although my favorite art style is abstract, I work on several styles depending on the inspiration of the day.

I've always enjoyed be creative, even as a child. I studied Art at SDSU in late 70's and honestly got a little burnt out. Other mediums took the place of paint: floral design, sewing, gardening. These kept me sane during my career of 35 years at "the Phone Company"!
Fast forward to 2015 and I'm retired and back in the classroom with a great instructor and encouraging artist classmates. My husband Lloyd and I followed family up to the PNW and here I am today! Confession.... I still don't paint enough, but at least I paint more!

I have only been painting a few years, but I've really come to enjoy the peace and calmness that goes with it.
My favorite kind of painting is Plein Air (painting outside). You must work quickly to capture the light and shadows before they change, and, you get to enjoy the great out-of-doors while you are working! If I'm not outside, I usually paint from photographs I have taken.
My medium of choice is acrylic paints, but I have done some work in watercolor as well.

Stephen Hayes has been painting since the age of ten when he visited a San Francisco museum and saw his first Rembrandt. He specializes in portraiture and conceptual art, with much of his work being featured in books and magazines in the US and abroad.
After retiring from teaching at Pacific Northwest College of Art and the Portland Art Institute, as well as maintaining a successful career as a professional illustrator, Stephen now wants to focus on paintings that ask questions, celebrate human interaction and embody the idea that “Important artists create worlds that would not otherwise have existed.”
Most recently, Stephen has won the award for Best Interpretation of the Theme “Connections” at the Battleground Art Alliance Spring Show with his painting, Winning Move, pictured above. His painting, Island Man, is currently on display in The Cube at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center.
He lives in Ridgefield with his high school sweetheart, and wife of 45 years, Sue Hayes.

Painting is a way of sharing a part of me. I create on paper what I’d like others to see. It may be the beautiful nature of a flower or perhaps a moment captured that would otherwise be fleeting, like an expression on a dog’s face. I can even create what isn’t real and that’s the joy of art.

I have been mixed media abstract/ impressionistic artist for over seven years. Since 2014 I have been involved and supported the local art scene in Portland and Vancouver. I was a featured artist at the Angst Gallery in Vancouver (2018) .
I have put on my own one man shows. Collaborated with other artists and sponsored unknown artist. I have performed as a vocalist with local musical groups . I have used my creative skills to help with set designs for local theater and art fairs.
My main medium is acrylic paint. I also enjoy other paint mediums such as oil, encaustic, water colors. During the Covid shut down and social distancing, art became my “good friend”.
I want to help with the Ridgefield Arts Council promote an arts district cultural center that includes art shows, live theater, educational experiences for all ages and art therapy.

I was born in Kyoto, Japan and grew up in Osaka.
When I was a little girl, I enjoyed working on coloring books. One of my favorite classes in elementary and middle school was art class.
My long-time desire was to start painting again. I wished that someday I could have time to paint.
My life was busy with study, work, and raising a family. Since middle school I did not have time to focus on painting. After a long time passed, and all of my children have grown up, I had more time for myself. In November of 2018, I took a watercolor painting class that Kathy Winters was teaching in Ridgefield. The class reignited my passion for painting. I have been painting nearly every day since starting that class.
In watercolor painting it is very interesting to see how water moves the pigment to create beautiful colors. I feel like I am just a helper for the water and paint to make a beautiful picture. I watch and I am amazed at their work.
Painting gives me a lot of joy and happiness. If you can feel this though my paintings I will be very happy.
Now I am inspired and excited to be painting!

Hello, and welcome.
To tell you a little bit about myself, I was born and raised in California. From my youngest years I had a real love and talent for art. To foster this natural gift, my mother would encourage me with new coloring books and crayons. When I reached high school, my teachers thought I had such a good talent for art that I should take an art class. That is where I created my first oil painting which helped me develop my style; however, through the years, watercolor has become and remains my passion.
After graduating from high school, I worked in positions that allowed me the opportunity to do graphic design, paste-up and layout, collage, greeting cards, various artist crafts and photography. I still draw from these experiences today. Being well known for my art is a dream. I feel that my paintings are bright, attractive and familiar, like paintings of animals and familiar places. I like getting ideas from other people for new drawings and paintings.
I hope my artwork brings joy and pleasant memories to all. Wanting to dispel the myth that watercolor painting is the most difficult medium, I rose to the challenge with persistence in finishing paintings and finding ways to unlock my inspirations. That is what drives me to continue painting.

Whether it’s a potato with human eyes or adding aluminum balloons to a classic painting, PNW artist Rose Jubb immerses her audience in color, surreal humor, and nature. Like every elder millennial, Rose was convinced she would someday be a marine biologist. Growing up in small town Minnesota meant she would have to settle for drawing sea creatures. After drawing them all, she dove into the drawing every animal in the National Digest Guide to North American Wildlife. It was this love of animals that helped her hone her realistic drawing and then painting skills. Over the years her love of portrait painting grew and a surreal style using watercolor, acrylics, and inks emerged, with an emphasis on reusing, recycling, and up-cycling. You may also find her extremely detailed 3D sculptural works interesting, all made of found objects in nature or thrifted items.

Short Bio: I create paintings that reflect the beauty I see around me. People tell me my paintings are like poetry for the eyes. My paintings evoke a mood, so that viewers are reminded of their
own memories, nostalgia or dreams. For the past 40 years I've been painting the sights, places, florals and naturescapes of Southwest Washington State. There's a lot of water, boats, trees, sky and green colors where I live. It's a place where I never fail to find artistic inspiration. Enjoy my watercolors and oils! You may even recognize a location.
Walks with my dogs along the Columbia River, trips across the state to wine country, hikes into Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier, are just a few of my favorite landscape inspirations. I've also painted the human figure; finding beauty in the shapes and curves of our human form.

My art has been on a lifelong journey and has found its way to such places as Malaysia, New Zealand, Canada and other interesting locations. I have an MBA, BA and AAS mostly focusing on the science of the mind. I am a learner by nature, so just prior to retiring from corporate America in March 2023, I re-introduced myself to art by attending Medallion Art School and am now currently attending classes at A Little Grey Bird Studio taught by Sarah Hunter. Being a native of the PNW, en plein air painting is a passion of mine, so I can often be seen painting while camping in the mountains or at the coast or down on the waterfront in Vancouver. With the support of my husband, I was able to create an art studio in our house and am now enjoying creating art and sharing it with others. DLZ Artistry: Where Art Meets Science.
I'm an award winning nature & wildlife photographer & part-time musician. Living in Clark County I love our parks, mountains and coastlines. With photography I see colors & light much like I hear different parts of music. By connecting with nature, I often hear the music of what I'm photographing.

I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest during my family's first visit in the early 2000s. The towering trees, snow capped mountains, lush vegetation, rivers and waterfalls, and the fresh air captured my heart. What I hope to accomplish with my photography and art is to capture and share nature's splendor. The Pacific Northwest is truly God's country.

All my work begins in the camera but is finished on the computer. The digital age of photography has made it much easier to create pleasing images, and I take full advantage of programs that help me do that. I add different elements to a large percentage of my photos to make them better, e.g. I have replaced a dull gray sky in this sample image with one that creates a more dramatic image. I also do both large and small format printing for a number of artist clients as well as printing and framing of my own work.
I enjoy being out in the nature and love capturing dramatic landscapes and wildlife ! It gives me immense pleasure and makes me feel blessed to be able to witness the magic of mother nature !

My journey as a lapidary artist continues with my creations from the natural world. For 2024 I finally found "the rock" to create a rock crab! It has already won the "Port of Ridgefield" award at the 2024 RAA Show at the library! In November of 2024 the "Mosquito" and the "Desert Scorpion" were in the 14th Annual "OPEN" Online Art Exhibition and won two 3D awards. Competition was intense with 515 entries from 20 different Countries and 27 different states. For 2025, my lapidary piece is in the works and has been the most challenging piece of art I have created yet! I can’t wait to finish it and see the results! Thanks for following!

I began my journey in clay after a 12-year professional career in stained glass. Not surprisingly, my first ceramic pieces were slab-built, linear boxes. Through the years, my work has become much more organic and free form. I’m an unabashed collector of twigs, leaves, pods, rusty metal, etc. and I rarely return from a walk or hike without a found “treasure” - sparking my imagination and inspiring future work! I describe my aesthetic as “modern nature.” I look forward to sharing my process and work with you. Janine “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso

I love “throwing” on the wheel. Manipulating the clay is a sensory wake up. I use porcelain clay which has a creamy look and feel on my hands. However, focus and patience are rewarded on the wheel…otherwise a disaster is waiting in the wings. My objective is to shape a vessel and use glaze colors that draw one’s attention and hopefully not be a boring piece.

I call myself an artist of many colors. This is not only because I love bright colors but also because I love all forms of art. My motto is, “you can’t fail if you don’t try,” and I’ve tried and enjoy many ways of creating art. My main art focuses are pottery (I enjoy sculpting, creating garden totems and other clay projects), mixed media, paper collages, watercolors, and I’ve made several woven pine needles baskets. My husband, Kirt, and I do pottery together in our home studio which makes us “a match made in heaven.”

Working in a small studio with my wife, Holly, allows me to create whatever pops into my head. My work is a way to express the thoughts I struggle with verbally. There is no singular style to what I build so each piece is unique. I simply enjoy “playing in the mud.”

At an early age, I found that creativity can happen through trying new ideas and then reaching a little further. My discovery process is ongoing, even after my teaching career and into retirement. Through the years, I have worked with glass, cloth, clay, ink and wood, but my focus currently is working with gourds.
I am continually trying new techniques and materials so each gourd is a creative journey for me. Working in the round on imperfect surfaces and with a huge variety of gourd shapes and sizes, the process of decorating is always a welcome challenge. I may just paint the gourd, I may Wood burn it, I may use a wax resist technique, or I may carve it. I may add embellishments or weave the top edge with pine needles. I may add rocks and driftwood into the design, which gives added textures. As I complete each gourd, I realize that the journey for that gourd is complete and that my vision for the final product has become a reality.
I am basically self-taught, although I have taken a few gourd classes and I also learn from a few gourd books in my library. No matter what media I work with, it is the creative process that guides and excites me.

Inspired by nature, my hands on approach purposely uses textures, colors and three dimensional elements to engage the viewer through fiber mixed media. My small wall art quilts bring the outside in and remind us of the beauty of God’s creation all around us.

Mary's artistic focus revolves around figurative sculpture and garden art, particularly in the creation of "garden stacks" (a.k.a. garden totems). Drawing inspiration from organic shapes and natural colors, many of her pieces attempt to elicit a sense of humor for the viewer
